Barkston Ash’s Highfield care home is linking with the York Teaching Hospital charity Star Appeal to organise a summer gala to raise funds for the two.
Attractions at the home in Scarthingwell Park on Saturday July 14, from 10am-4pm, will include the Sir Thomas Glemhams regiment of the Sealed Knot who will be performing drill displays bringing the 17th Century to life. People can also meet and talk to the soldiers and see how they used to live.
Other entertainment for will include craft stalls, refreshments, children’s fancy dress competition, face painting and a raffle and Minster FM who will be broadcasting from the event.
Richard Sweeting, Activity Coordinator for Highfield Care Home said: “As a Care Home we really want to be part of our local community and use our Gala Day to support our local hospital.
“We hope as many people as possible will come along on the day to see our wonderful grounds and to enjoy our Fun Day.”
The Star Appeal aims to raise £300,000 to refurbish York Hospital’s Stroke Rehabilitation unit.
