From the moment they are born, babies become the popular ‘stars’ of countless photographs taken by proud parents, family members and friends.
But one group of babies and toddlers in the Wetherby News area are posing for the camera in a most unusual location: under water!
Tadcaster mum Samantha Dalton, whose company Flutterbabies provides courses for babies in swimming and yoga, has teamed up with local photographers Swim-Shots to capture a range of images.
She told the Wetherby News: “I teach Baby Swimming courses at Scholes Elmet Primary School, which has a lovely pool where we recently organised an underwater photo shoot.
“The new term starts at Scholes on Monday, April 16. We take babies from eight weeks up to two-and-a-half years old. There will be an opportunity to have underwater photos taken each term.”
Samantha added: “I love what I do and seeing babies and mothers bond is a great reward.
“All my classes are baby-led, which means it doesn’t matter if a baby doesn’t always want to join in as there is no rigid routine. As a mum of two I know that every baby is an individual.
“Not only are the classes a fun way for mums and babies to spend more time getting to know each other but it’s also a good way for mums to meet each other.
“Being a new mum can be a very emotional time. We can all experience different feelings but having some ‘one-on-one’ time can be a huge benefit in the bonding process.”
Samantha also conducts Baby Yoga courses at Wetherby Children’s Centre, suitable for babies from around eight weeks old up to crawling. The new term starts on Thursday, April 12.
She added: “Baby Yoga classes are also being planned for Barwick, where a local mum has asked for a course as she says there is a baby boom there! These will be on a Monday afternoon, starting this month.”
