Damage has been caused to a building and stock at Wetherby Racecourse during a fire in the early hours of today, Thursday.
Fire crews from Wetherby and Tadcaster attended just after midnight to deal with a blaze in a store room.
A Racecourse spokesman said: “We had some damage to the birch shed which is used to store birch wood for the hurdles.
“About 2,000 bundles, which cost about 2-£4 a bundle, were destroyed.
“But it is business as usual today and we have conferences in.”
The spokesman added that the blaze is believed to have been started by intruders to the York Road site which successfully embarked on its first flat race season last Sunday.
Wetherby Racecourse suffered major fire damage to one of its buildings about two years ago.
