Festival time first for Boston Spa villagers

The first Boston Spa Weekend Festival will take place with a full programme of events planned for Friday through to Sunday.

Floral displays from the Methodist Church Flower Festival will be on show in the Village Hall all weekend, with a Friday lunchtime concert.

Boston Spa School have set in place a scarecrow trail, with prizes of £100 holiday vouchers from Spa Travel to be awarded.

On Friday night there is a choice of two concerts - Spirit of Harmony at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church and The Colourtones Live at the Village Hall.

Saturday events include the Scouts Skills Challenge in Church Fields, 9.30am–1pm, which coincides with the Classic Car Gathering also in Church Fields from 10am.

Deepdale Art Group will exhibit work by local artists at Deepdale Community Centre, 10am-4pm, and street food will be available from local restaurants in the Millennium Gardens from 12.30-3.30pm.

A guided Village Walk is available at 2pm, featuring the historic blue plaques.

A Crown Green Bowls league match will be held at Stables Lane from 2-5pm, and Big Red Curtain Theatre Works is performing live music and drama in the Village Hall from 3-4pm.

Jazz in the Spa, featuring Hot Fingers with Emily Campbell, will finish off the day at the Village Hall, 8-10.30pm.

On Sunday, the Boston Spa Bowling Club will have an Open Day on Stables lane, 10.30am–3.30pm, and Boston Spa WI will have a plant stall at the Village Hall, 11.30am-4.30pm.

Garden aficionados can visit 11 open gardens in the village, 12.30-4.30pm, with refreshments available at the Village Hall and Deepdale.

For those who fancy another ramble, there will be a second Village Walk at 2pm in the Millennium Gardens.
