A MAJOR programme of roadworks to repair the ravages of last winter will begin in Harrogate and Knaresborough next month.
The £2m repair project will run from mid-October to February, but North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) has yet to confirm exact dates for the work.
The individual sites have been named, however, and the relevant time restrictions for each location have been finalised, with much of the work on major routes taking place after dark.
NYCC says its highways officers have worked closely with representatives from Harrogate Borough Council, the Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce and local bus and taxi companies to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum for road-users. It adds that, while there will inevitably be some inconvenience to motorists, the works are intended to extend the life of the existing roads and reduce the need for future repairs.
The sites scheduled for repair are:
Wetherby Road (various sections between Rudding Lane and the Empress roundabout), nights, 7pm-midnight residential and 10pm-6am non-residential, Rudding Lane to Sainsbury’s.
Knaresborough Road (Empress roundabout to Forest Avenue), nights, 7pm-midnight.
