Pupils take to the stage in art awards

Starbeck School pupils performed in the spotlight as part of an after school club run by Harrogate Theatre Education Department.

In addition to rehearsing and performing a fantastic show at the Theatre, the 21 children also achieved their Arts Award Explore.

Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification offered by Trinity College, London which aims to inspire young people to become involved in the Arts and to explore different Arts organisations.

The children had to complete a portfolio of evidence showing how they created and performed their show Don’t Open the Box.

They also learnt all about Harrogate Theatre and interviewed Phil Lowe, the Associate Director of Harrogate Theatre and one half of the team behind Harrogate Theatre’s outstanding Pantomime.

All passed the Award with flying colours and were proud of their achievements.
