A serious illness couldn’t stop one Tadcaster Grammar school student from achieving top A level results.
Lucy Allis battled with glandular fever during her exams and could hardly get out of bed on most days.
However, she managed to sit them all and when she received her results this morning there were tears of joy and relief from both her and her parents Deborah and Mike.

“I am over the moon and cannot believe it,” said Lucy, who received 1A* and 3As.
“Despite her illness she worked incredibly hard and deserves everything she has achieved,” said Mum Deborah Allis. “We are extremely proud of her, very tearful and very emotional.”
Lucy will now take up her place at Exeter to study Drama and Theatre Studies.
