Woman knocked to ground by would-be thief during Ripon attack

A woman was knocked to the ground by a would-be thief who then attempted to steal her handbag during a heartless attack in Ripon on Wednesday (December 2).

The man approached the woman from behind and tried to wrench the bag out of her hand. She then fell to the ground and grazed her knee.

The suspect, who is believed to be around 6ft tall, ran off empty-handed towards North Street and Christian Terrace.

The incident took place on Crescent Road, Ripon between 5.45pm and 6.05pm yesterday (Wednesday, 2 December 2015).

Police are now appealing for information and officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries in the area as well as reviewing CCTV footage.
