Man denies Knaresborough bomb hoax

A man has denied making hoax calls about a bomb threat at a pizza shop.

Two men were charged after an inquiry into calls involving Razaul Karim’s Paragon Pizza takeaway in High Street on October 16, and appeared at York Crown Court yesterday.

Shamsul Islam, 23, of Leeds, pleaded not guilty to three counts of communicating false information to induce the belief that a bomb was present at Paragon Pizza but pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice. He was remanded in custody until his trial on November 19.

His brother, Habibul, 22, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and making a false statement to obtain insurance. He was released on bail ahead of sentencing.
