l Volunteers who are helping to run Tadcaster Community Swimming pool gave their local MP a tour of the venue this week.

The pool is managed by full-time staff with the help of a large number of volunteers and receives no funding from North Yorkshire County Council.

They were visited by MP Nigel Adams this week in a bid to raise awareness about how the pool operates.

Chris Porter, facilities manager at the pool, said: “Mr Adams visit was a chance to him all the work we do here and others that the big society is actually working, we have been running this pool for nearly 17 years largely through the help of the community, as we rely heavily on donations and the hard work of local people.”
