Staff and residents at Highfield Care Home in Tadcaster are celebrating after two staff members both won a national award at the Barchester Care Awards 2015 in Manchester.
Richard Sweeting, Chairman of Selby District Council and Activities Coordinator at Highfield, was awarded a trophy for Activities Coordinator of the Year while Fatima Buxton, Head of the home’s Memory Lane Community for people living with dementia, was delighted to receive the Memory Lane Champion 2015 award.
The Barchester Care Awards annually staff excellence in all of its homes, of which there are over 200 across the whole of the UK, so Highfield are absolutely delighted that two of their staff were national winners.
The judges stated: “Richard is resourceful and very person-centred and uses his extensive network of contacts to enrich the lives of the people living at Highfield Care Home.”
And of Fatima, they said: “Fatima puts her heart and soul into her job and treats residents as if they are members of her own family.”
Adelina Pangilinan, General Manager at Highfield Care Home said: “We are all so proud of Richard and Fatima.
“They truly deserve this award.
“I cannot ask for more. They both contribute greatly in the high quality care that we always provide to our residents and friends at here at Highfield Care home.”
On receiving the award, Richard said: “I feel very humble and honoured to win this award,
“I love my job which enables me to help the residents at Highfield have a good quality of life.
“Highfield is a very special place to me, we are one big family and community.”
On receiving the award, Fatima said: “I’m honoured to have received this award and have been enriched by the experience.
“It’s about understanding, caring and truly loving what you do. I am blessed to work at Highfield as it is a caring environment.”
Barchester employes almost 17,000 people to care for more than 10,000 at over 200 locations across the country and was listed in the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work for in 2014.
The Scarthingwell Park-based home organises annual events for the community.
