A fun day was had by all who took part in a virtual bike race from Boston Spa to Sandsend in the foyer of Morrison’s Supermarket in Wetherby.

Boston Spa Methodist church members and friends cycled half hour sessions in two teams to cover the 89 miles needed to reach the coast.

A map displayed the route passing many of Yorkshire’s places of interest.

“Rev Steve Jakeman, the Church Minister, caused lots of laughter by dressing in a 1920’s style swimming costume,” said a spokesman for the church.

“Shoppers were very generous and dropped money in our collection buckets towards the major building project at Boston Spa Methodist Church.”

The project includes installing an internal lift which will provide essential access for wheelchair users and improved facilities for the many community groups who use the building. Plans of the redevelopment were displayed for all to see.

“A big thank you to all who contributed to the collection of £460 which is fantastic, your help is much appreciated.”
