The sponsorship will help Western Primary School, on Harrogate’s Cold Bath Road, realise plans to refurbish the playground – currently a very limited space – and provide a new, imaginative and challenging resource for coordinated play and sports.

The first phase of two phases of construction – the creation of a multi-use games area and a side activity playground – are set to begin in late July, to be ready for use by children at the start of the new school year in September.

“We are proud to help make a difference to the experience of young people within the Western community and live out the culture of care which sits at the heart of Berwins’ ethos,” said managing director Sarah Smith, who is also a former parent at the school.

Lucy Ogden, of Western Primary PTA, added: “From the outset, this important campaign was designed to be for the community and funded by the community.

“The support of a well-respected local firm like Berwins certainly helps that vision to become reality.”
