Aldi is on the hunt for dozens of new employees in a recruitment drive across North Yorkshire.
The budget supermarket has 73 jobs on offer as a result of demand-driven expansion. These include 50 store assistants, 15 deputy store managers and six apprentices across its Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk and Catterick stores.
The Harrogate store is also recruiting a store manager and an assistant store manager.
Aldi is the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket chain and was named Grocer of the Year 2018 at the Grocer Gold awards, which praised the discounter for having one of the best working environments in the sector.
Most of its employees now receive a minimum rate of £8.85 per hour, regardless of their age – which is more than the UK Living Wage.
Aldi store apprentices are trained in retail management during a three-year course, at a salary significantly higher than the national minimum wage for apprenticeships.
The company’s assistant store managers start on £31,300, which rises to £38,170 after four years, and are entitled to four weeks’ annual leave, rising to five weeks.
Deputy store managers have the responsibility of managing the store team in the manager’s absence.
Aldi’s store managers are responsible for a multi-million pound store operation and involved in every aspect of the business, from managing and developing teams to meeting sales targets. They receive a salary of £44,890, rising to £58,540 after four years.
