A car care firm based near Knaresborough is hoping a £350,000 investment in purpose-built premises will prove the catalyst for further growth.

Swissvax is aiming to develop its reputation as one of the world’s leading car care brands in the UK after relocating to its new base at the Nidd Valley Business Park in Scotton, a move which led to the appointment of a new detailing centre manager and created two new jobs.

The company is already a product of choice for some of the globe’s best-known prestige marques and boasts links with dealer groups selling Ferrari, Porsche and Bentley cars, among others.

But, while Swissvax is respected among concours enthusiasts all over the globe, the UK franchise is determined to raise the profile of the concept of “detailing” among the average motorist across Britain – starting with an open day at its new premises, called Concours House, on Saturday, July 7.

“A lot of people confuse detailing with valeting,” said Samantha Mearns, a partner in the business alongside her husband Andrew.

“Valeting is about removing dirt while detailing is much closer to restoration.”

She added: “Detailing isn’t just for enthusiasts. It can make a significant difference to how long your car lasts as well as to how you feel when you drive it.”

Facilities at Concours House include a jet-washing bay, three indoor cleaning bays, inspection ramps and a customer viewing area. The company also distributes products around the UK and into Ireland from its extensive store room at the new premises.

The open day will include demonstrations of common car care dos and don’ts.
