Primrose Lane Primary School PTA: are holding a band and disco night on Friday, May 3 at Boston Spa Village Hall. Performing will be popular local band Livetime, who recently played at Boston Spa Beer Festival. The evening will also feature a disco with guest DJ Jeff Hordley, Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle. There will be a licensed bar. Tickets are £6, and are available from Douglas Yeadon Hardware in Boston Spa. Admission is by advanced ticket only, and tickets will not be available on the night. Doors open at 7.30pm. A night not to be missed.
Jazz in the Spa: the session this Saturday, May 4 – Frenchman Street Jazz Band – led by reeds player Chris Pearce of the former Antique Six Jazz Band, the line up includes Tony Pipkin on trumpet, Richard Leach on trombone, Phil Probert on guitar/banjo and Tony Sharp on bass. Open garden – Boston Spa: on Sunday, May 12 the garden at Four Gables in Boston Spa will open again under the National Garden Scheme (Yellow Book - gardens open for charity). The garden, owned by David and Anne Watts, covers about half an acre with many interesting areas, specimen and surprises, including a croquet lawn, tropical border, a sunken garden, and a Japanese garden with a new tea house. Also new this year is a fern garden built on old logs and several sculptures, including a woven willow obelisk over eight feet tall. Tea, coffee and cake will be available. Admission is £3 for adults, children under 12 free. The hours are from 12.30-5pm. Four Gables is located on Oaks Lane, a private lane just off the High Street opposite Church Fields. There is no parking on the lane, visitors are invited to use the new parking lot next to the church.

The Barefoot Gallery: Boston Spa, is delighted to announce the solo exhibition for multi award winning author and illustrator Catherine Rayner. April 20 – May 19. As well as being commissioned by publishers across the world to write and illustrate books she has also created images for many internationally renowned companies including Marks & Spencer, Harrods and Faber & Faber. Her paintings and silk screen prints of creatures that are just brimming with character, each one named and brought to life, are sought after and collected, not just in the UK but all over the world. Locally born Catherine studied Illustration at Edinburgh College of art. She fell in love with the city and still lives there with her husband, young son and a handful of creatures; Shannon the horse, Ena the grey cat and a goldfish called Richard. In this exhibition Catherine will be showing a range of her hand made variable edition silk screen prints, original paintings, cards and selection of signed books.
Boston Spa Neighbourhood Plan: we are planning to hold some Roadshows around the village about the plan around the village; especially to coincide with the questionnaire delivered to all our residents, seeking their views on life here. Forthtell: invites you to a lecture and discussion on issues of the day. The next session is titled Darwin’s Last Words by Chris Richards at the Boston Spa village hall on Saturday, May 11 from 2.30–4pm. All are welcome. There is no charge and there will be light refreshments and free literature. Forthell is an independent fellowship, not connected to any one church or organisation, seeking to pursue Bible truth, determine the Christian position on issues of the day, and at this time defend the sovereignty of the UK from the inroads of European Union and its euro.
