Boston Spa in Bloom: at the recent AGM of Boston Spa in Bloom, Jeff and Ann Newton, the retiring chairperson and honorary treasurer were presented with gifts by Diane Johnson on behalf of the committee. Bob Sergeant, the newly elected chairperson, was delighted that Jeff had agreed to act as vice chairperson and paid a glowing tribute to Jeff and Ann, thanking them for all their dedication to Boston Spa in Bloom. Bob explained that Boston Spa in Bloom started about seven years ago when Jeff wished to do something to enhance the village and he thought the addition of hanging baskets could be one way of doing this. Now thanks to his vision, enthusiasm and hard work in forming a committee, raising funds and engaging the support of local businesses and local volunteers this takes place annually and Boston Spa is a more attractive village in which to live, visit and work. The committee’s great thanks are due, not only to Jeff and Anne but also to all the local business sponsors, local shops and wonderful volunteers who, without their support, Boston Spa in Bloom would not be possible.
