Bardsey Bowling Club: Sand Moor Golf Club was the venue for the presentation lunch held recently, and the atmosphere and welcome was warm for the 49 members who attended. The meal was excellent and efficiently served and gave the opportunity for light hearted conversation sometimes related to their beloved hobby. The chairman, Ray Hill, thanked members for their attendance and Derek Tranter, Vic Lloyd and Daren Forrester for re-painting the club house and also the Harriers for the card and plant given to him and his wife, Rita, to celebrate their golden wedding. Then came the most important part of the proceedings, the presentation of the trophies. A wonderful display of trophies had been arranged by Jim Baines, the competition manager, and they were presented to the winners of the club competitions and to players with the best averages in the Harrogate and Tadcaster Leagues. The next date on their calendar is the AGM, which will be held on January 13 at 7.30pm in the Callister Hall.
Bardsey cum Rigton twinned with Kisdorf: 40th Anniversary. Following the successful visit to Kisdorf this year, the council have received a request from a lady who first visited Bardsey as a teenager and been twice since. She obviously loves our village and would like her daughter and friend, both aged 13 years to have the same opportunity as her in summer 2014. If any family or families in Bardsey or East Keswick would like to accommodate these girls, who speak good English, please contact the parish clerk, June Gallant, for further information on 01937 573365.
