A Wetherby artist is staging an exhibition in the town.

Will Ellen is to put his work on show at ArtSpace, part of Wetherby Baptist’s Margins Bookshop in Church Street until March 3.

The 34-year-old, who gained an A Level in art from Wetherby High, has always been inspired by the landscapes, towns and villages and seascapes of his home county.

Working with oil on canvas, Will’s style is drawn predominantly from the 19th century but with a contemporary twist.

He has a particular love for the artwork of Caspar David Friedrich, Albert Bierstadt, and Joseph Farquarson.

After studying art and social sciences at the West of England University in Bristol, Will returned to Wetherby where he now works.

ArtSpace is open from 10am - 2pm, Tuesday to Saturdays. As well as original oil paintings, prints, table mats and cards will also be available for sale.
