Welcome to Wetherby is looking for ambassadors to fly the flag for the town by giving out leaflets to visitors this summer.
The group, which works to promote the town’s attractions, needs volunteers to hand out its tourism guides and leaflets to people attending the Sunday band concerts.
Chairman of W2W Cindy Bentley said: “We get a lot of visitors coming to the band concerts from all around the region and we would like to be able to help promote the town’s facilities to them.
“We are looking for Wetherby residents who know the town and can help visitors with the enquiries about facilities and places to visit as well as giving out our leaflets.”
The group hopes to mirror the success of the ambassador scheme it operated in Wetherby to cater for visitors coming to the area for the Tour de France Yorkshire Grand Depart last July.
The highly popular band concerts are staged in the Wilderness on Sunday afternoons from April to September and attract top brass bands and thousands of visitors from throughout the region.
Cindy stressed that ambassadors will not have to spend every Sunday at the concerts as a rota will operate throughout the season.
Anyone who is interested should contact Wetherby Town Clerk Barbara Ball on 01937 583584 or call at the Town Hall.
