Health providers reported that over 5,000 people were immunized at a seven-day drive-thru flu vaccination programme.

The Wetherby Primary Care Network, of GP practices Crossley Street, Collingham Church View, Bramham Medical Centre and Boston Spa Surgery - planned and executed the mass vaccination event at Bramham Park.

“This year the flu vaccination is as important as ever and as the uptake is predicated to be higher than ever before Wetherby Primary Care Network decided to collaborate on the mass flu vaccination event,” said event leader Sophie Dawson, PCN Manager.

“We have seen over 5,000 patients who have driven through the park and been greeted at the other end by the dedicated NHS GP’s, nurses and administrators.

“We had hundreds of positive comments about the event and the NHS as a whole.

“The week was tough with day after day of rain so I’d like to say a special thank you to the 60 volunteers that have given up their time to help keep patients safe and the smooth running of the event.

“These volunteers have keep spirits high and a smile on everyone’s faces.”
