Trustees of the facility have been working closely with local pharmacist, Samina Khan and Dr Lewis Caplin to get NHS approval for the Park Road building.

Chairman of the Hall’s trustees, Chris Henderson said: “Following a virtual inspection last week, approval has been given to open the Hall in early April for the administration of the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination.

“Actual opening days will depend on vaccine supplies.

“In the meantime, essential IT and refrigeration equipment will be installed in the coming week.

Mr Henderson said that they were delighted that the Hall would be put to good use while it was closed for its usual activities.

He added: “Thanks to generous Government support, the Hall is financially secure and essential maintenance and safety inspections had been carried out, as well as protective heating, throughout the winter which will enable the Hall to open safely when allowed to do so.”

Nidderdale residents have had to go to Harrogate, Ripon or even York for vaccinations to date.

Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall out of pandemic times, hosts a variety of weekly activities, including tea dances, indoor bowling, pilates classes and more.

Mr Henderson said: “We usually have a film night once a month of the latest releases attracting audience of up to 170 although we decided to limit numbers to 120 as we felt it was too crowded above that figure - the film nights are our major fundraising events.”
