Coronavirus - Harrogate council-run leisure facilities remain open with increased hygiene measures

The authority said it is following national guidelines in keeping its five swimming pools in Harrogate, Knaresborough, Nidderdale, Ripon and Starbeck open to the public.
The official government advice at the minuet is for people to avoid all unnecessary contact and travel.

Hide AdA message on the council's website today (March 19) said: "Our five swimming pools, our leisure centres and all Brimhams gyms are currently open as usual. We’ve increased routine cleaning in response to the pandemic.
"There are currently no plans to restrict access to these facilities unless national guidance changes. We are reviewing this position on daily basis."
Harrogate Borough Council also owns three fitness centres and the town's Turkish Baths, which are also open with increased hygiene measures.

Hide AdOther privately-run gyms in the district remain open with precautions in place.
Meanwhile, schools and colleges have been told to close their doors by this Friday, except for children of key workers including NHS staff.
