Pupils head to post lockdown fashion catwalk

Wetherby High School has embraced the opportunities presented since welcoming all students back after the last Coronavirus lockdown.

Not only did students get to grips with the social and accademic learning but allowed their creative talents to flow with a fashion show.

A school spokesman said: “Students had worked very hard during lockdown, showing commitment, enthusiasm and progress in response to our on-line provision.

“But after the lockdown period we were keen to build upon our strong relationships, something we value so much here.

“We utilised our pastoral coaching system, which has been so key in forming effective relationship across Wetherby High, to create projects during students’ coaching time.

“We also wanted to foster our students’ creative and collaborative potential; one of our projects was a fashion show. The results were amazing.”

The brief was for each coaching group to create an outfit using basic materials such as paper, glue, felt and card.

“Our students set to work and over a two-week period they demonstrated all those skills of collaboration and inventiveness which our coaching system encourages,” added the spokesman.

“The sheer range, flair and quality of the outfits were very impressive.

Year 8 student Chase Malton said: “It was great community achievement.

“The whole school community came together to participate in the fashion show and we hope people enjoy some of the outfits on the photos.”
