Green pupils set to work on building new meadow
Year 3 pupils from a Wetherby school took part in an exciting new project with local construction firm HACS.
The Green Ambassadors from Deighton Gates Primary wanted to remember a difficult year for school and families in having to contend with COVID-19.
The youngsters set about creating ‘a symbol of hope for the future’ at the school.
Headteacher Claire Harrison said: “They dreamed of creating a space in school that would be filled with wildflowers that would attract a range of wildlife to the school grounds.
“HACS who are building a selection of houses neighbouring the school, have made their wishes come true by providing all the resources to create a meadow alongside the playground.”
The headteacher added: “The children can’t wait to observe the meadow growing over the coming months.”
