Sad roll call: Top 10 shops and business closures in Harrogate

Life has been challenging for Harrogate businesses in the town centre over the last year but the onset of the Covid pandemic has merely accelerated a trend already causing damage to the high street.

Compared to many other towns, Harrogate's town centre is in a relatively healthy condition so far - despite everything.

It has not all been bad news, by no means.

There have even been new arrivals and openings recently, including Hustle & Co cafe on Station Parade, Grön Kafé on Royal Parade, Messums gallery on James Street and Hidden Bar and Pizzeria on The Ginnel.

But the last 18 months have still witnessed a steady stream of closures of shops and other businesses in Harrogate
