Harrogate’s millionnaires have come out on top once again with news the district is home to six out of the 20 wealthiest people across Yorkshire.
Harrogate and its surrounds have appeared in the annual Sunday Times Rich List, published this week.
Supermarket mogul Sir Ken Morrison, who lives in a lavish French-style chateau near Boroughbridge, is the richest in the district with a £1,005m fortune, and is ranked 83rd in the whole country.
But his fortune is estimated to have fallen by £105m in the last year.
Next in the Harrogate ranking is Terry Bramall - whose £425m came from the sale of his Doncaster based Keepmoat construction.
Terry and wife Liz set up a £100m charitable foundation and have given millions to good causes including the Northern Ballet, and alma mater Birmingham Universtiy.
Ranked eigth and ninth in Yorkshire are Julie Heselden – Thorp Arch based widow of defence entrepreneur Jimi Heselden, with a fortune of £343m – and internet tycoon Peter Wilkinson, who lives in Harrogate, with £335m.
Further down the list is car sales millionnaire Tony Bramall, ranked 14th in Yorkshire and 417th in the country with an estimated fortune of £144m.
Property mogul Sir Robert Ogden, who recently gave £3.5m towards a new cancer centre at Harrogate Hospital, comes in at 18th equal in the county, tied with novelist Barbara Taylor Bradford with a fortune of £150m.
Super rich - but feeling the pinch
Half of the six richest in Harrogate have seen their fortunes shrink in the last year.
While Terry Bramall, Julie Heselden and Sir Robert Ogden have all maintained their wealth, the fortunes of Sir Ken Morrison, Peter Wilkinson and Tony Bramall have dwindled – by £105m, £33m and £48m respectively, since the Rich List 2012 was published.
