She clearly enjoyed the experience of performing in front of just 65 people becase the comedy superstar is coming back next year for a slightly bigger show - this time at the Royal Hall.

The show only happened after weeks of talks between the top comic’s team and the theatre but nothing was left to chance.

South Shields-born Sarah was treated to the true Harrogate welcome with Betty’s kindly gifting two lovely chocolate Easter eggs for Sarah and her support to enjoy in their dressing room.

A spokesman for Harrogate Theatre said: “We were so pleased to welcome such a comedy superstar to the theatre. We knew Sarah’s fans would be desperate to see her perform in such a small setting. We were sworn to secrecy as the show went on sale via a private ticketing link – it was very exciting.”

If any readers may be wondering why they didn’t hear about the ‘secret’ gig - it’s because tickets went on sale exclusively to Sarah’s fan mail list and sold out instantly.

As much as the 65 lucky people enjoyed the experience of seeing Sarah’s new stand-up comedy material early on in its development, the comedian herself also enjoyed it.

A theatre spokeman said: “It was a great night thoroughly enjoyed by all, including Sarah herself who tweeted: “Thanks to all who came to @HGtheatre tonight to see my WIP show. @GeoffNorcott and I had a lovely time. X”

Tickets for the Harrogate date of Sarah Millican Outsider tour on June 4, 2106 will be on sale tomorrow at the Harrogate Theatre box office in person or on 01423 502116 or at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk
