STEPHEN Fry, Celia Imrie and Keith Allen are among the names featuring in an exciting new film festival launched by Aesthetica magazine in York next week.
Filmmakers from around the world are set to gather for the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) which will run from November 3-6 in 15 diverse locations across the city.
There will be 150 films from 30 separate countries, covering a wide variety of genres and filmic styles, including narrative films, documentary, animation, music video, artists’ film and many others.
Screenings include Lost Connection, with appearances from Stephen Fry and Celia Imrie, and The Calculus of Love, featuring Keith Allen.
Sally Joynson, Chief Executive, Screen Yorkshire, said: “In a time of uncertainty over future funding it is heartening to see fresh and energetic projects making good things happen, adding a new and vibrant experience to the Yorkshire and UK festival scene.”
Other events include Warp: 20 Years in the Making: Barry Ryan which will be shown next Friday, November 4.

ASFF will not only offers visitors a chance to engage with new filmmakers from across the world, but also to enjoy one of Britain’s best loved cities.”
For those who want to expand their knowledge of film, there will also be masterclasses from Bridlington-born Academy Award nominee Mark Hermann, writer and director of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, Brassed Off and Little Voice, Ivana MacKinnon, associate producer of Slumdog Millionaire and Alex Williams from Escape Studios whose most recent work includes animation for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
ASFF 2011 will be launched next Thursday, November 3 at City Screen in York .
