No ordinary rising pop star, no lightweight fame academy-style singer, Fiona Bevan is the real deal and she’s coming to Harrogate.
The Suffolk-born singer, who co-wrote number one hit Little Things for One Direction with her friend Ed Sheeran, will be performing songs from her debut album at Jakes Cafe-Restaurant on Thursday, June 26.
The striking-looking Fiona, who’s also worked in the past with Ed Harcourt, is heavily influenced by film and literature in her songwriting,
Her recently-released album Talk to Strangers is a prime example of modern story-telling within a pop context.
In that way, Fiona follows in the lineage of Florence Welch and Alison Goldfrapp rather than some X Factor contestant.
Fiona said: “I love clever, interesting pop and I adore storytelling. It’s important to me that no words are wasted. I write about real things that have actually happened.”
The Jakes show, presented by On’t Sofa, the Harrogate-based music video channel and production company, which specialises in discovering real talent for the future, will see her supported by Kal Lavele, who has toured with Ed Sheeran.
Next Thursday’s mix of food and music starts at 7pm.
