G.L.J.J

(Nidderdale High School,)

GLJJ from Nidderdale High School, are a group of fourmusicians who have been playing together for just over a year.

Their mentors are the grandparents of one of the band members, Levi Lumley and the band formed when they set up a guitar club at the school.

Levis’ grandparents have a lifetime of exerience, performing and writing songs about their life and their journey as musicians and travellers.

GLJJ’s music has therefore been heavily influenced by folk genres and they also cite Mumford and Sons as an inspiration.

Their largest gig to date was a Christmas concert at school so they are looking forward to playing on the Royal Hall stage.

Their full line up includes Gina McCann, guitar and vocals, Levi Lumley, guitar and bass, Jack O’Brien, lead guitar and Joe Wilson, Cajon Drums and backing vocals.

Oblivion

(Harrogate Grammar School)

We are a group of four utterly random people who mess around, do gigs and make awesome music. We have been together for about four years and have entered four Amp Heats in past years, among many other gigs.

We’ve finally made it to the AMP Awards Final! Our original line up was John Moss, lead guitar and vocals, Will Hain, drums and backing vocals and James Reilly on bass. Recently, George Farrar has joined us as rhythm guitarist, making us what we are now.

Our influences include bands such as the Foo Fighters, Paramore, You Me at Six, Biffy Clyro, and of course, Tweak the 2013 band finalists from King James!

We like to play anything from Poprock to Indie to Hard Rock. in fact, on our Facebook page (fb.com/oblivion0theband) we are classed as ‘pop rock indie punk’!

Our aim at the Amp Awards is to have a hell of a time, get publicity, entertain everyone, and improve as a band.

Our ambition is to play at Wembley but, on February 13, we hope to give a memorable performance at the Royal Hall whether we win or not!
