The launch of Jude Gallery – a brand new art space located in the heart of Harrogate - attracted enthusiasts of photography and cycling.
The inaugural exhibition Reality of a Moment by Harrogate’s Jude Palmer showcased both her talent and the new gallery located at 12 Princes Square.
More than 60 people turned out to catch a glimpse of the work of Jude who was recently named the official ‘behind the scenes’ photographer for the Grand Départ Yorkshire in next year’s Tour de France. Visitors were particularly taken by Jude’s recent pictures of 2011 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award Mark Cavendish and Tour de France winner Chris Froome.
Jude said: “Jude Gallery has given me the space to showcase my work, while also giving people the opportunity to find out more about what I do. Photography for me is about capturing the character, atmosphere and reality of any given moment.”
Earlier this year Jude was commissioned by Welcome to Yorkshire to capture the build-up to the arrival of the world’s largest cycling event – the Tour de France’s Grand Depart that is set to ride into Yorkshire on July 5 and 6.
Jude plans to compile the best of her images in a commemorative photo book, and to hold several exhibitions – all project managed by Harrogate firm, Cicada Communications.
For a limited period, images of world champion Yorkshire cyclist Beryl Burton, on loan from prestigious British cycling magazine Rouleur, are also on display at Jude Gallery.
While the gallery is open to the public, anyone wanting to view Reality of a Moment by Jude should email Jude in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
