RUNNERS of all abilities are invited to take part in this year's Wetherby 10km Run.
Based at Wetherby Racecourse and organised by Wetherby Runners AC and Wetherby District Lions, the event will raise money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Entries filled by mid-July last year and with 600 places on offer this year places are being snapped up.

The event is set for Sunday, September 14, with the main race beginning at 2pm. The Moores Mini Marathon, a 1.8 mile family fun run, begins at 12.45pm.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance operates 365 days a year to assist in anything from car crashes to accidents in hard-to-reach areas. It is supported entirely by donations but has doctors and paramedics on board to assist as quickly as possible and get people to hospitals.

The charity is close to the hearts of the Wetherby Runners, who had to call for assistance when one of their members was injured in Swaledale in 2005.

Club chairman Robert Gray said: “There are only five air ambulance charities in the whole of the north of England, so the Yorkshire region is very fortunate.”

Entry forms are available now for the Wetherby 10k Run at www.wetherbyrunnersac.co.uk

Alternatively pick up a form from the Wetherby News office on Westgate.
