The new centre, on Hallfield Lane, which has been funded by a Leeds Primary Care Trust (PCT) regeneration plan, will offer a plethora of health services under one roof.

The centre will be open for emergencies on Monday, but there will be a normal GP service at the Harewood surgery until Tuesday.

Other GP services for patients registered with Dr Knight and partners will take place at the centre, however, alongside community health services such as nursing, community matrons and health visitors, physiotherapy, podiatry, midwifery and new mental health and drug services.

The new healthcare building is designed to benefit patients and increase the ability of Leeds PCT to meet the health needs of a growing population in the Wetherby area.

Lisa Butland, director of planning and commissioning at Leeds PCT, said: “A great deal of hard work and planning has gone into this new facility, the seventh community health centre to open in the Leeds district.

“It will provide people in Wetherby and surrounding areas with high quality health services under one roof in a purpose-built modern environment.”

Wetherby doctor Nicholas Ibbotson said: “All the staff and doctors at the surgery are looking forward to moving into the new state-of-the-art building.

“It should enable us to provide better care and enhanced services for all our patients."
