PUPILS from three Boston Spa schools had the chance to meet an award-winning author to celebrate the national year of reading.
Frank Cottrell Boyce, best known for books Millions and Framed, visited Boston Spa School to speak to 150 young people about his work.

The audience included pupils from Year 6 at Primrose Lane Primary School and Years 5 and 6 at St Mary’s C of E Primary School.

The author spoke about his new book, Cosmic, and signed copies for his fans.

They included pupils who have taken part in the Leeds Book Award, Carnegie Shadowing and judging the Royal Society of Science Junior Book Prize, which all promote reading among key stage three students.

The event was organised by Boston Spa School librarian Susi Chapman.

Headteacher Christopher Walsh said: “Boston Spa School is very fortunate to have Susi Chapman as our school librarian, she is always looking for ways to inspire young readers, and what better way than to meet and talk with real authors. It was a fantastic opportunity.”
