Downing's haul sees 'Shaw close on title

Joe Downing's haul of 6-38 brought BECKWITHSHAW within touching distance of the title with a seven wicket victory against LITTLE RIBSTON.

Joe Downing's haul of 6-38 brought BECKWITHSHAW within touching distance of the title with a seven wicket victory against LITTLE RIBSTON.
Downing ensured Ribston were all out for 92, Andy Tiffany taking 2-15 and N Bursell (38) top scor
ing.
L Hurst hit back with 3-24 but James Carson and Ryan Bradshaw both knocked 22 to see 'Shaw oblige at 93-3.
BILTON moved a step closer to Division One safety after beating rivals FOLLIFOOT.
Captain Si Clemerson top scored with 29 as Bilton posted 150-8 despite Dave Moss-Blundell's tidy 4-47 and Drew McKay's 4-33.
'Foot were then caught short in response despite starts from Jim Pickles (33) and Nick Robinson (33) as Chris Thompson (5-36) and Daz Simpson (3-21) restricted them to 132-9.
A magic spell by H Potter for HARROGATE proved crucial in their victory over BISHOP THORNTON.
Potter (4-27) and C Thornton saw Thornton fall 60 runs short on 123-9, despite Rod Foster's 51. Earlier 'Gate made 183-7 with John Proud (70) and Paul Allegretto (55), S Bell taking 4-49.
BARDSEY bowled out nine man WHIXLEY for just 58 but then took 14 overs to knock off the runs.
Only Richard Ward (38) got going for Whixley as Dave Wright took 3-16. Barbar Butt's 25 then helped Bardsey over the line at 62-4.

Division Two
PATELEY BRIDGE won their battle with HAMPSTHWAITE A thanks to a destructive spell of bowling by Andrew Johnson (5-57) and Richard Spittlehouse (5-19) as 'Thwaite collapsed to 84 all out. In response Bridge made 86-1 off 12.5 overs, Richard Light (32no) and Rob Light (36) in the runs.
STUDLEY ROYAL raced to a comfortable victory over KILLINGHALL thanks to Rob Mackle's 62 chasing down 132 for victory.
Earlier Hall had Billy Graham (67) and Ian Timms (32) to thank for setting a competitive total but Mackle's assured knock saw Studley home.
BLUBBERHOUSES cemented a spot in mid table after beating NEW ROVER by 45 runs.
Batting first Steve Craigie (71) and Steven Wilkinson (34) batted 'Houses to 188-6, Tom Lindley (4-38) in the wickets.
This proved too much for Rover who finished on 143 all out despite Tim Lindley's fine 71no.
KNARESBOROUGH A recorded a 77 run victory against GOLDSBOROUGH A.
Alex Lilley (54no), Graham Dodds (41) and James Tattersall (33) batted 'Boro' to 152-5, Robert Robshaw taking 3-51.
Goldsborough then fell short at 75-5, David Girling (2-25) and Neil Marshall (2-15) in the wickets.

Division Three
Karl Jankowicz took four wickets in four balls but still saw his BURTON LEONARD A side lose by 11 runs at MARKINGTON A.
Jankowicz (4-24) and Chris Baker (3-36) had Markington kept to 127-7 - Dave Askew (51), Tom Lloyd (24) and Liam Evans-Ford (22) in the runs.
However, James Armstrong's 5-26 saw Leonard all out at 116 despite the efforts of Jankowicz (34no) and Joe Wilson (21).
Olie Uffindall hit a century (105) but still saw NEWBY HALL lose by 28 runs at GALPHAY AND WINKSLEY.
Uffindall's knock took Newby to 190-5 but Paul Reynolds (93) and Gary Blackburn (70) earlier powered Galphay to 218-4.
SHADWELL recorded a perfect ten wicket win against CARR MANOR.
Carr Manor were all out for 64 before overseas Ronville Brown (30no) and Joe Eddison (26no) eased Shadwell to 65-0.
Danny Shuffe notched another ton for BIRSTWITH as they successfully chased down GLASSHOUSES 172-5, Rob Ellis the main man with 75.
In response Shuffe carved 114no as the away side finished on 178-2.

Division Four
An Andrew Amsden inspired BURNT YATES A held on to beat SCOTTON A by four runs.
Amsden (49) and P Townsend (49no) batted Burnt Yates to 136 and Amsden (3-20) and C Wilson (4-30) then kept Scotton just shy at 132 all out despite Rob Ellerker's 39.
KNARESBOROUGH FOREST won their local battle over KNARESBOROUGH B despite Jeff Weir's wonderful 122 for 'Boro'.
Forest totalled 179-4 in first with Mick Hancock (67) and David Skaith (50) top scoring.
Weir did his best to pull 'Boro' back but they eventually fell short on 163-2
Damian Aston's magnificent 104no paved the way for SCARCROFT to beat NPOWER.
Aston and Murray Arnot (83) helped their side to a mighty 224-2 batting first.
Rich Young (49) and N Young (35) did their best to chase down the total but J Braithwaite's 4-49 kept them short on 191-9.
PANNAL destroyed ARTHINGTON restricting the visitors to 67-8, Jeff Barker making 41no. Matt Garne then made 32no as Pannal cruised home on 68-2.

Division Five
Ian Short made an unbeaten 77 to see GOLDSBOROUGH B win by eight wickets against RIPLEY.
Alan Clapperton hit 31 but Duncan Roberts' 3-31 had Ripley 97-7 before Short batted Goldsborough to 92-2 despite J Nicol's 2-22.
HAMPSTHWAITE B won a low scoring affair against HARROGATE B by 14 runs.
Hampsthwaite were all out for 76, Martin Ingham (3-16) and Tom Dell (3-23) in the wickets, but Harrogate fared even worse at 52 all out, Ed Illingworth taking 4-11.
WIGHILL PARK were comfortable victors over SPOFFORTH after bowling their opponents out for 87, Dwayne Vidler top scoring with 29 in the face of Andrew Robson's 5-36. David Walton cracked 50no in reply as Wighill past the winning post on 88-3.
BIRSTWITH B beat DACRE BANKS after making 106-5 Craig Armitage top scoring with 37. Chris Jones (3-9) and Sam Moore (3-29) skittling Dacre for 88.

Division Six
KNARESBOROUGH FOREST pulled off a comprehensive win over LITTLE RIBSTON after making 117 all out with Alan Coote top scoring with 41.
In response Ribston fell like a pack of cards to 47 all out, D Walker (5-30) and D Alloway (4-12) the chief destroyers.
BURTON LEONARD won a nailbiting finish by one run against a plucky MARTON CUM GRAFTON.
Batting first Leonard finished on 115-5 and despite Matt Crowl's superb 90 the away side fell short on 114-5.
MARKINGTON B beat SCOTTON B in a low scoring contest after Wayne Colbeck (47) top scored in their 94-6. Andy Marshall picking up 4-27. Scotton were then all out for 56 thanks to J Rowntree's 3-27.
DARLEY easily saw off BURNT YATES B by 97 runs.
D Roberts (70) and J Rice (50no) batted Darley to 184-7 before Lee Platts took 3-5 to whittle Yates out for 87.
On Monday SCOTTON B were beaten by MARTON CUM GRAFTON despite making 82-6 batting first thanks to Ian Moorland's 40no. In reply Marton cruised home on 83-5.
The same night LITTLE RIBSTON lost to DARLEY after they made 84-9 batting first, with Darley crossing the winning post on 85-3.
•The final of the C.B Atkinson Cup will take place Follifoot CC on Monday between Knaresborough Forest A and Pannal.
In the semi-finals Forest made 143-3 batting first thanks to Mick Hancock's 70no and Mike Thompson (37).
In response Hall were 122 all out, Jim Hutchins (3-27) and Thompson (3-19) in the wickets.
•The George Greaves final will be played between Marton-cum-Grafton and Pannal Ash or Dacre Banks at Scotton CC next Monday (6.15pm start).
• Meanwhile the Arthur Barrett U-17s cup final will take place at Bilton CC on Monday (6.15pm start) between Harrogate and Raskelf.
