RIPON diver Jack Laugher continued his charge towards the London 2012 Olympics by reaching the 3m springboard final of the World Cup this week.

The 17-year-old produced a lifetime’s best score in the semi-final, but just missed out on a medal after gambling on a new dive.

He over-rotated on his forward 4½ somersaults to finish eighth overall.

Laugher said afterwards he is determined to nail the move in time for the Olympics.

His three and a half somersaults in the fourth round was so flawless it earned a 10 from one judge.
