Nineteen-year-old Harrogate born Phil Dawes received good news this week with a call up to the Scotland Students Rugby League squad.

A resident of Flaxby near Knaresborough, Phil will play for the Exiles against the Residents in Glasgow. The match doubles as the final trial for the Scotland squad for the RL Student World Cup held later in the year. Phil, who qualifies for Scotland through having a Scottish grandparent, is a History student at Leeds Trinity University and a former first team captain of Rugby at King James’s School Knaresborough. He also played as a junior with Harrogate RUFC and Wetherby Bulldogs.
