A late Hallam goal denied Boston Spa a share of the spoils as they lost 3-2 at home in the Yorkshire Premier on Saturday.
Fifth-placed Spa started on the front foot but squandered several early chances.
But they took the lead midway through the half when a free hit just outside the 25 was drilled goalwards by Paul High only to be deflected past his own keeper by a Hallam defender.
Boston then went two up into the second half when Will Martin finished off a well-worked move by Alex Greenwood down the left.
The Sheffield outfit got back into the game shortly after, a good turn and reverse stick finish from the Hallam skipper.
Spa were then reduced to 10 men when Simon Ward saw yellow.
Hallam made their man advantage count as they scored an equaliser before finding a winner with three minutes left.
Boston 2nds’ Jekyll and Hyde season in continued with a topsy-turvy 5-3 victory against high flying Harrogate.
Dave Sutherland bagged the opening two goals before Elliot White’s hat-trick sealed the win.
Spa 3rds let slip a lead from Will Parkins’ goal to lose 2-1 against York.
Spa 4th’s need one point to secure promotion to Division Five after beating Ben Rhydding 7ths 4-1 on Saturday.
