First lady Monica grabs top time at Osmotherley

Harrogate Harrier Monika Papaj headed to the Osmotherley Marathon last month, crossing as first lady in a super achievement.

Saturday’s Trollers Trot meanwhile saw seven Harriers take part.

Richard Smith had a fabulous race, coming 12th overall and fourth in his category in 3:39:54. Not far behind were father and son duo Andrew and Ben Grant.

Andrew crossed the line in 3:47:40, 20th place and eighth in his category, with Ben 3:47:42 for first in his age category and 21st overall.

Philip Birch clocked 3:55:31 and 33rd overall while first Harrier lady was Wendy Marks, winning her category F45 and coming in fourth lady and 43rd overall in 4:11:28.

Mark Jordan was next, 50th and third in category with 4:15:12. Ros Moore was second Harrier lady in 4:27:48, 67th overall and fifth in F35 category.

Helen and Martyn Price spent Saturday at the Lakeland Derwentwater Amble, about 24 miles and 4,100ft of climb.

Running together Helen and Martyn came in 25th and 26th place with a time of 5:25.

Nathan Everett Smith travelled up to Northumberland for the CTS marathon, also on Saturday.

For the most part he enjoyed the relatively flat and scenic route although the last two miles of what turned out to be the 27.6 miles course were a slog.

Official results are pending, but Nathan came in 19th out of around 130 runners.

The Silverstone Half Marathon took place on Sunday, Darren West ticking another half-marathon off his list in 1:36:28; 15th in his category, and overall 545th in a field of 6778 runners.

Coralin Harrison clocked 2:22:17, for fourth in her category.

Three Harriers ran the Norton 9 mile road race organised by Askern Harriers, also on Sunday. Chris Miller came in a comfortable winner 30 seconds in front of second place.

Results were: Chris Miller 1st 51.10; Brian Miller, 81st 62:11 4th V55; Sue Simpson, 165th 69:14 2nd VF50.

The Ilkley Moor Fell Race took place on the same day, with 12 Harriers in attendance.

First Harrier over the line, and 24th overall, was Chris Gibbins in 46.24. Second was Harry Brook-Dobson in 47.52 and 38th overall.

David Fountain was third in 48.38, 43rd overall. First lady Harrier was Helen Price in 58:40, 143rd. Second was Elizabeth Sandell 1:12:21 for 213rd and third Nicky Smith in 1:14:15, 219th overall.

Other results were: Jonty, Bright, 51.28; Timothy Richardson, 55.47; Martyn Price, 58.04; Tim Palmer, 58.24; Dan Simmons, 1:04:42; Mike Salt, 1:14:09.
