Ripon Runners had a successful outing at this year’s Burn Valley Half Marathon.
Windy conditions added to the difficulty of this popular local race, with a muddy off-road section and monstrous hills to conquer.
Mike Appleton was one of the top three runners who had a fantasically competitive race, finishing in second place overall in an impressive time of 1.19.59.
Together with 10th placed Derek McCreadie (1.26.42) and Anthony Jefford in 13th place (1.28.13) the trio won the male team prize.
Anthony also retained his title as fastest local male and Derek was second male over 35. Pete Chapman was next in 15th place in 1.28.59 and 2nd O50.

All the hard work and hours of training paid off for Ripon Runners Steve Oates and Lena Conlin as both sucessfully completed the Nottingham Outlaw Ironman distance race.
Taking part in their alternative guise as NYP triathletes the pair finished the phenomenal distance challenge of a two mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and full length, 26.2 mile marathon run. Steve finished the events in an incredible 11.42.40, (swim 1.18.27, bike 6.05.16, run 4.05.45) with Lena finishing in an amazing 15.15.24 (swim 1.34.43, bike 7.40.19, run 5.49.23).
