Addis to battle Frenchman for European belt at Pavilions

Harrogate’s professional Thai boxer Kris Addis will fight for the WMF European Light Middleweight belt at the Pavilions of Harrogate, against 2011 French champion Mike Schmidt from the famous Strasbourg Muay Thai Gym.

Trainer Delfim Da Costa said: “We are honoured to be offered the chance to fight for this title and we will do our best to take the belt back to France with us.”

Addis, who has been training and fighting for seven years, is equally determined to win the belt.

“I have worked hard to get to this point and I am fitter and more confident than ever,” he said.

“This has been my goal since my first A-Class fight and I will realise that dream on September 8th.I have fought all over the world but I am so glad to be able to have this one on home turf.”

Addis is a veteran of 24 fights, his most recent just two weeks ago, winning by KO in the first round against Aberdeen’s Keith Middleton.

“That fight gave me lots of confidence because I stuck to the game plan and gave him no room,” Addis continued.

“I controlled him really well which is what we’ve been working on with my trainer Pierre.”

The show will also another Kao Loi Gym fighter Duncan Scott who is now widely recognised as one of the up and coming fighters in the UK. Scott will fight Tam McCourt from Glasgow in an eagerly awaited clash of fighters with similar styles.
