SHADWELL became the first team to retain the Fred Fleetwood Cup since Barwick in 1997 when they beat Garforth Parish Church in the final of the competition on Sunday.
Youngster Joe Burke was the star of the show for his men.
He hit 30 backed up equally impressive turns from Aaron Avery (79) and Ben Turner (51no) in their 194-7 offering.
Garforth were skittled for 147 in reply with Burke (5-27) the pick of the bowlers.
It’s been a mixed season in the top flight for Shad’.
In the league they have not threatened the leaders and on Saturday slipped to defeat against St Chad’s.
That victory for the relegation-threatened champs opened the door for other teams to gain some ground on their rivals.
The race for Division One safety is set to go down right to the wire.
Meanwhile in the Nidderdale League SPOFFORTH were surprisingly beaten by Darley last week. They will seek for an immediate comeback away at Middleham tomorrow.
