Harrogate Town will play their FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Hyde across town on Wednesday, at the home of derby rivals Harrogate Railway (7.45pm).

The surprise rescue package from Station View comes after the pitch at the CNG Stadium failed another inspection on Tuesday afternoon.

It’s believed to be the first time Town have played a match on the famous Station View slope which hasn’t been against Railway.

It’s been a grim two weeks at Wetherby Road, which hasn’t seen a ball kicked since the Brackley game on October 13.

Town drew 1-1 at Conference side Hyde on October 20, but the replay was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch last Tuesday.

The poor surface forced the postponement of the Corby Town league match on Saturday, and has now, despite massive efforts by the club to dry out the worst areas in the goalmouths, forced the cup tie to take place at a different ground.

Town’s pitch has proved a constant headache this season after it was levelled and resown over the close season.

The appalling weather throughout the summer and into autumn unfortunately has given the new grass little time to settle and has now led to five postponements this season.

The Wetherby Road men are desperate to get the match played as the winners face a first round proper tie away at Torquay United on Saturday.

But with bad weather arriving once again in Harrogate on Monday, the pitch stood little chance and Town released a statement on Monday night informing supporters of a potential switch to Station View should the pitch fail another inspection.

Railway are in County Cup action at home to Barnoldswick tonight (7.45pm).
