Wetherby Athletic Junior Football Club are determined to make the Olympic legacy a reality for Wetherby girls footballers this year when they launch their new girls football strategy ‘Fun, Friends, Fitness’.

The success of the GB women’s football team at the Olympics has inspired Wetherby Athletic to invest further in girls football.

“We already have strong and successful teams in our older age groups” said Mike Prentice, Manager of the under 15 team, “Football is the nations’s biggest female participation sport and our new strategy means we will offer quality football coaching for all age groups.”

Rachael Colley, U-13s Capsaid: “ It’s good fun, provides a great opportunity to make new friends and be part of a team and it keeps you fit as well.”

From September girls football will be available at Wetherby to girls of all ages from U10 to U18 levels.

The club will run free taster sessions six weeks after Easter. Those interested should visit Wetherby Athletic’s website. www.wetherbyathleticjfc.co.uk
