Thirsk Falcons have taken last year’s promotion disappointment in their stride and have started their new campaign in impeccable form.
The Falcons have won eight of their first ten matches in Teesside League Division Two this season under new boss Eddy Geurin.
Geurin stepped up from the club’s second team after experienced boss George Pierse retired at the end of last season.
Despite losing several important players through injuries or unavailability, Thirsk have smashed in 41 goals and lie second in the table behind Stockton West End.
The free-scoring Falcons rose above former league leaders Guisborough Globe after coming from behind to win 2-1 on Saturday.
Globe opened the scoring in the first half before Thirsk’s James Robson levelled shortly after half-time.
Guisborough were shocked by Thirsk’s second-half improvement and Robby Fountain capitalised to grab the points.
Thirsk’s second string have had a rather shakey start in the Harrogate and District Premier, losing their first four matches.
But the revitalised reserves bounced back to beat Pateley Bridge 4-1 on Saturday.
