Harrogate Town retained the John Smith’s Cup and the local bragging rights as they thumped Harrogate Railway 4-0 at Station View.
Town striker Liam Hardy came back to haunt former club ‘Railway as he broke the deadlock within two minutes, sidefooting past Chris Burrows.
Adam Bolder added a second from the penalty spot after Hardy was brought down by Simon Wood in the box.
Railway fought hard to stay intact but Town frontman Chris Hall stretched the advantage 10 minutes before half-time, scoring from close range.
Both managers switched their sides after the break to maximise the pre-season benefit of the match and it brought about a more even second period.
Town hotshot Ashley Worsfold then grabbed a fifth for his personal pre-season tally to make certain the trophy would head back to the CNG Stadium.
Town kick off their Skrill North campaign on Saturday away to Oxford City whereas Billy Miller’s ‘Railway side will travel to Salford City in their first Evo-Stik Northern Premier First Division North game.
