Harrogate Town’s impressive home record was ended via a 2-1 defeat to visitors Colwyn Bay on Tuesday.

Previously unbeaten in seven games at home, Town are currently in the midst of a packed schedule, which will see them complete four games in eight days.

Fresh from Saturday’s 2-0 win over Histon, Simon Weaver’s troops made a bright start when Dominic Knowles netted just two minutes into the game after Frank Sinclair’s clearance rebounded off the striker and fell perfectly for him to shoot past Chris Sanna.

But Colwyn hit back 11 minutes to level when Shelton Payne curled a superb shot past Craig MacGillivray.

They then went 2-1 up before the break after Payne set up Mike Lea to score from six yards.

Town threw everything they had at their visitors, Tom Platt almost levelling just before half-time and sub Paul Bolland hitting the crossbar in the secon half, but Colwyn hung on to claim all three points.

Town travel to FC Halifax on Thursday night, desperate to get back into the play-off spots after Tuesday’s defeat dropped them down to sixth.

Harrogate Railway meanwhile turned in a battling performance to defeat league leaders Skelmersdale United in the Evo Stik First Division North.

After a late kickoff due to the fog, Liam Hardy shot them 1-0 ahead, before Skelmersdale scored twice to move 2-1 in front.

But Railway plugged away, and after Jesus levelled with ten minutes to go, Jon Maloney then made it 3-2 after heading in Colin Hunter’s free kick.

They are 15th in the division and visit Garforth Town on Saturday.

Tadcaster Albion’s NCEL Premier game against Long Eaton United was postponed due to fog.
