Wetherby Athletic boss Des English has resigned after a development year in charge of the club.
English led a talented side to 11th in the West Yorkshire Premier Division but the long season caused form to drop off towards the end.
The boss has decided to quit owing to an imminent house move that could affect his commitment to the upcoming pre-season.
“I think the timing is right for a fresh face to bring a couple of players in and take them to the next level,” he said.
“At the moment I can’t fully commit to next season.
“I wanted to see things through but the time is right.
“I need to take time off.
“The club is better served to get someone else in as pre season is so important.”
English highlighted the progress of the club’s youngsters as his key contribution to last season’s league slog.
Athletic started the term in emphatic style winning five of their first six matches.
But inconsistency crept in towards the end of the season and the squad finished without a win in six.
English added: “We had secured safety early on and we were out of the clubs so it left us with not a lot to play for.
“We wanted to get a foundation built and bring youngsters through.
“They now have experience of West Yorkshire Premier League football.
“A number of them can go on to better things.
English said he would remain a part of the furniture at the club but he is seeking a six month break.
Athletic’s reserve team impressed in the Alliance Division One, finishing fourth with 40 points from 26 games.
The third team have also been accepted into the Harrogate & District Premier League for next season.
“The club’s in a pretty good place,” English added.
“We have managed to sort things out off the field. We are in a better financial position.
“It is a good project for someone to take on. If we can get the right man in the club can enjoy success.”
