Follifoot are down to the bare bones ahead of a big double-header weekend of action for the club.

Five players who have featured in the first team this season are unavailable.

With bowler Dave Girling still injured and Greg Lambert himself suffering from a hamstring problem, the strain on the club is acute.

“Nick Robinson, Alex Fox, Steve Townsend, Mike Milligan and Scott Thompson are all out,” said Lambert.

“With Dave injured and myself struggling it’s been tough this year. But we beat Thackley when he had a few out, and that started a three-match winning run, so you never know.”

Follifoot are on the road to rivals Beckwithshaw on Saturday.

Ben Quick’s side somehow beat the rain to record a 101-run win over Adel last Saturday, Bryan Vance 89 and John Inglis 54 in the simple win.

The result moves ‘Shaw third in the table, six points behind leaders Steeton, who play second placed Collingham. On Sunday, Follifoot are on the road to Ben Rhydding in the quarter-finals of the Waddilove Cup.

“We looked at the cup and targeted it as our best chance of silverware this season,” added Lambert.

“But it won’t be easy.”

Victory would set up a semi-final tie against either Steeton or Green Lane on July 15.
